To ensure SMCC’s ability to accomplish its academic mission and realize its strategic objectives, JMZ identified projects that will support the long-term development of the College. The proposed projects focus on optimizing SMCC’s existing resources, particularly on the South Portland Campus. Tune-ups to the South Portland site will result in a more cohesive campus and will enhance the historic and aesthetic value of the site. Strategic building renovations and removals will facilitate the relocation of some academic programs and the expansion of others, and will result in improved access for students and more supportive facilities for faculty and staff. New collaborative zones and gathering spaces will enhance student engagement and help enliven the north side of the campus.
