JMZ completed a comprehensive building review, program study, and renovation plan for Milne Library at SUNY Geneseo. The study provided an evaluation of the condition of Milne Library and made recommendations to transform the building into a modern space for study, collaboration, research, and instruction. SUNY Geneseo’s hillside location and outstanding views are key elements of the College’s identity. The existing Milne Library, with its solid brick walls and single main entrance, did not engage the landscape. The renovation created an interior circulation gallery to welcome pedestrians from the west through the lower level entrance and from the east through the main level entrance. New window openings created views to the countryside and campus.
